Web images are often larger than they need to be. A 4 MB photo from a phone camera can be cut to a few hundred kilobytes without any visible loss — most of the savings come from resizing the longer edge and lowering the JPEG/WebP quality slider. The result loads faster on phones, costs less bandwidth, and ranks better in image-heavy search results.
This compressor runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Pick an image, set a target width or quality, and the tool re-encodes it as JPEG, WebP, or PNG. Nothing is uploaded — the image and the result both stay on your device. The preview shows the original and the compressed side by side with the byte savings, so you can see whether the quality slider is too aggressive before you commit to a download.
Quality ranges below ~60 produce visible artifacts on text and sharp edges. For photos, 70-80 looks identical to the original. For screenshots and UI mocks, keep the slider above 80 or switch to PNG (which is lossless). The browser's PNG encoder is slow on large images, so prefer WebP for screenshots when you can.
